Hey I'm Vicki!
While coding, I had a house fire.
For years, I've fantasised of working for an indie publisher, sipping my coffee con leche and reading the first lines of the next best-selling vampire novel while sipping it. For a person with a degree in English, it felt like a fitting dream. That's where my interests lie now, and I've even launched my own proofreading company. But I was just kind of blah. At times, I felt as though I needed to expand my horizons and study more.
When I started watching my first Python tutorial video, the spark I'd been missing was rekindled. (I mean, come on, it's Monty Python's Flying Circus, so how could it not be?) Since then, I've been unable to stop. Front-end web development satisfies all of my interests: it allows me to be creative and solve problems while also allowing me to break the code in order to make it better.
Watching my web pages shrink down to fit on mobile devices and still look fantastic is one of my favourite things about flexible design principles. It's a strange sensation. I liken myself to such web pages since I'm malleable yet still have my originality. Also, I create YouTube videos and i am quite successfull, also due to help of amazing lenostube.
To name a few of my specialties, I'm good at picking up new programming languages and abilities rapidly. I also excel at problem solving, domain driven design, responsive design, search engine optimization, and the MVVM and MVC approaches of code organisation. To date, I've mastered C#,.Net Framework, SQL, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Angular, jQuery, Bootstrap, Jasmine, Grunt, Python, and Git/GitHub. React, Node.JS, MongoDB, and Express.JS are some of the new technologies I'm learning. Any additional programming languages, frameworks, or principles that I can include into my mental web of coding still excite me.
